About the Artists

Frank Frazetta (1928–2010) is widely regarded as the greatest fantasy and science fiction artist of the 20th century. His visceral, dynamic paintings defined the visual language of the genre for generations, gracing the covers of Conan the Barbarian novels, Heavy Metal magazine, and countless film posters. This artwork was originally commissioned by Robert Rodriguez for the film but went unused — making this screen print its first-ever public release.

Jason Edmiston is a Canadian illustrator celebrated for his photorealistic portraits and masterful color work, best known for his Eyes Without a Face series. In Edmiston's own words about this collaboration:

"The legendary artist Frank Frazetta originally painted this poster design for the 1996 horror-action film From Dusk Till Dawn. Director Robert Rodriguez commissioned the painting for his film, being a huge fan of the fantasy master, but studio execs ultimately went in a different direction, and this version went unused. This is the first time that this artwork has been made available as a screen print.

I was fortunate enough to be tapped to contribute artistically to both versions of the poster. I designed the layout and credit block for the Movie Poster version, and created the separations so they could be screen printed. I also hand painted the title design, and did some minor tweaking of Frazetta's original artwork to fit the dimensions of the poster on the Art Print version. These were printed by DL Screenprinting, and both versions look amazing in the flesh. DL crushed it on both of these, and my pics do not do the print job justice.

My goal while separating this painting for screen printing was to retain as much of the original artist's hand and richness of colors from Frank Frazetta's piece as possible. I took great care to approach it like a watercolor painting, building depth with layers of transparent inks, while also paying attention to the textures, gradations, and rich colors that Frank often employed."
