About the Artist
John Alvin (1948–2008) was one of Hollywood's most celebrated movie poster artists, responsible for some of the most iconic film imagery of the 20th century. His work includes the original posters for Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, E.T., Gremlins, The Color Purple, and Batman Returns, among hundreds of others. Alvin's distinctive style combined painterly realism with bold graphic design, creating images that defined how audiences first experienced a film. His recreated Goonies artwork — originally painted for the 1985 release — remains one of the most beloved adventure movie posters ever created.
